Despite the losses that many Gulf Coast folks experienced from
Hurricane Katrina, some of the performing talent from New Orleans has survived and arrived here in the live music capital of the world.

Recently in Austin, there have been several concert benefits for hurricane evacuees featuring many talented Austin and New Orleans musicians playing together on common stages. There's been a long-standing history between Austin and New Orleans, both cities being meccas for live soulful music. Austin's grateful to welcome this sister city's talent.
