Community Connections
Over the past several years, KLRU and its community
partners have carried out numerous projects that speak
to community needs.
Community Projects Include:
- Filming Austin's Lives – KLRU-TV and News 8 Austin once again join together to document Central Texas as seen by those who live here. We continue our independent film project in partnership with the UT Humanities Institute and the Austin History Center. It’s called Filming Austin’s Lives, where you tell us about: “My Neighborhood” KLRU & News 8 Austin invite all filmmakers, in fact anyone with a video camera, to document what Austin and Central Texas mean to them. These videos will be judged by KLRU, News 8 Austin and the UT Humanities Institute. Winners will be aired on News 8 Austin throughout November 2006 and on KLRU-TV. All entries will then be donated to a permanent archive at the Austin History Center.
The submission deadline is September 30, 2006. Last year's entries are available on news8austin.com.
