Tips of the Week

  • Sow pumpkin and watermelon seeds.
  • Sow herb and flower seeds.
  • When you plant seeds in your garden, be careful with mulch. We do all want to mulch our gardens to keep the water in the soil and to cool them off this time of year, but you want to be careful when you plant seeds because with that extra height on the soil, they will have trouble pushing through that in addition to being buried in the soil. So you want to mulch around them only after they've come up and are growing vigorously.

  • The Natural Gardener also has lists of herbs, annuals, and other plants to start this month.
