Tips of the Week

  • Direct seed pumpkins, squash and cucumber.
  • Water new plants deeply. Avoid just squirting them with a water hose.
  • Fertilize container plants.
  • Avoid fertilizing perennials.
  • Dead head plants to clean up and encourage flowering (especially on annuals) but avoid harsh pruning.
  • If vegetable plants have succumbed to disease and pest, pull them out and put in the trash.
