Potato Vine (Solanum jasminoides)

Potato vine is actually kin to potatoes and tomatoes in our vegetable gardens, but this is a poisonous plant. It's best not to use this one around very small children.

The upside is that this flowering vine will grow in shade. It also accepts sun. In addition, it's not one that wants to take over the world. It's also evergreen and can bloom in winter.

There are blue or white flowering varieties and a variegated one, as well. All are very tough and xeric once established.
