Purple Heart (Setcreasea pallida)

Purple heart is an old favorite that we often see in heirloom gardens. It's been around a while because it is tough and easy to divide. It grows in sun or shade as a great waterwise groundcover or as container plant.

In the ground, if it looks a little ratty, mow it down! Trust me, you're not going to kill it. It will come right back up.

With sunlight, its deep purple is a lovely garden color, especially when grown with yellow flowering plants like New Gold lantana. Or try it with silvers and grays.
