Should I overseed my lawn?
Although a lot of commercials like this idea, I don't recommend it. There are a few drawbacks to overseeding.
- You'll have to water, fertilize and mow during the winter. Why not give your lawn mower and the sprinkler a break?
- It stresses your grass, whether you have Bermuda, St. Augustine or zoysia. Right now our lawns are already stressed and this will further weaken them. Your permanent turf will be fighting this temporary newcomer for life-giving nutrients, water, and sunlight, now and especially in spring when it's trying to emerge for the summer season.
