- Protect your perennials with compost or mulch. I like compost a little better because it has a smaller aggregate to it, so fills the spaces above the soil and protects the roots a little better from the cold. Compost also adds nutrients as it leaches into your soil over winter.
- Plant spring-blooming bulbs
- Plant winter annuals
- Continue cutting back perennials
- Take cuttings from greenery in your garden to fill vases or make holiday swags.
