To Do This Week

Week of December 26th, 2009

  • Protect your perennials with compost or mulch. I like compost a little better because it has a smaller aggregate to it, so fills the spaces above the soil and protects the roots a little better from the cold. Compost also adds nutrients as it leaches into your soil over winter.
  • Plant spring-blooming bulbs
  • Plant winter annuals
  • Continue cutting back perennials
  • Take cuttings from greenery in your garden to fill vases or make holiday swags.
