  • Plant trees, shrubs and hardy perennials.
  • Plant winter herbs like cilantro, dill, fennel, parsley, and chervil.
  • Sow wildflower seeds or plant transplants.
  • Plant larkspurs and poppies.
  • Plant transplants of alyssum, calendula, pansies, and violas.
  • Avoid pruning evergreens as we get close to our first frost date.
  • Get row cover or collect old sheets and blankets to be ready to cover frost-tender vegetables and specimen plants.
  • Mulch vegetable beds once seeds are up.
  • Be sure to dig up weeds the minute you see them before they get out of control.
