Week of February 12th, 2011

  • Prune your roses. You might choose to do so indiscriminately at first, just to get it back to a structure where you can see to clean it out. Prune back about 12 to 18 inches from the ground is a general rule, and prune to leave 3 to 6 of the healthiest canes. Prune to a bud that's facing outward, so you can leave the center of the plant open with very little growth so it can have good air movement.
