To Do This Week

Week of June 14th, 2008

  • Fertilize container plants.
  • Keep mulching, including your containers.
  • Take care of your new trees and woody ornamentals. Their first year is most critical, so give them a deep soaking when the soil is dry. It's better to do long drinks on an infrequent basis than to top them off with water every few days. You want their roots to sink down deep. Soggy, wet soil in the heat of summer is deadly to plants, but so is dry soil. So as these new plants are getting their roots established, kind of baby them along and get them going.
