- Plant melons, winter squash, okra
- For color, plant lantana, celosia, moss rose or portulacas, zinnias, sunflowers.
- For vines, plant morning glory and coral hyancinth bean (which blooms lavender in late summer, early fall).
- Be sure to provide deep watering for your new woody ornamentals and add mulch if you've dug up new areas.
- Fertilize containers and flowering annuals, and keep them pinched back for top performance.
