discuss real issues and provide useful information to adults
and children alike.
A Place of Our Own (and
Los Niños en Su Casa in Spanish) is a daily television series, a website, and an extensive outreach program devoted to the unique needs of people who care for children. Family, friends and neighbors – everyone who takes care of young children – are child care providers. Every interaction and every activity of these adults with their charges provide valuable opportunities to help children learn and grow.
A Place of Our Own shares ways for us all to help children acquire cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills, as well as nurture language and literacy development. In
A Place of Our Own we highlight local and state resources for child care providers and the children in their care. We understand the complexity of California's diverse population and represent a broad spectrum of ethnic communities and a wide range of children with special needs. (CC)

This six-part series examines how children learn to read, why
so many struggle and how adults can help them. Each episode
illustrates a stage of the reading process, incorporating the
latest research and featuring the country's top reading experts.
READING ROCKS!
READING ROCKS! seeks to inspire children who are struggling
to learn to read - and inspire their families and teachers,
too. The program gathers kids who have made it through those
dark days. The program aims to motivate children who feel like
giving up by kids who have found a way to give reading another
chance. Set to a hip-hop soundtrack, READING ROCKS! features
a child author, a claymation movie and a Puerto Rican fifth-
grader who learned to speak English.
READY FOR LIFE
Follow a journey of development through the eyes of the children
in six Texas families with children ranging in age from a few
days to six years. Meet their parents and siblings, their caregivers
and other significant adults who fill their lives.
This series celebrates pregnancy and early motherhood as it
informs and educates women on critical parenting, health and
emotional wellness issues. A twenty-six part, weekly series,
this series offers practical advice in a genuinely engaging
format. Presented by real moms, the show's hosts guide you through
the process of motherhood by providing vital information related
to pregnancy and early parenting, offering entertaining, inspiring
and informative stories that explore the world of parenting
today.
RIF EXCHANGE is a series created to keep you informed about
the latest literacy topics, the best ways to make reading fun
for kids and to profile successful RIF programs and volunteers
throughout the country.
These programs are designed as an aid to early literacy.
Based on the best-selling parenting guide by Dr. Craig and
Sharon Ramey, this series helps parents and other adult caregivers
understand that stimulating the brain of a newborn until he
is 18 months of age is critical to building the neural pathways
necessary for future learning.
Live action and animation are used to demonstrate what sealants
are, how they prevent dental decay, and how they are to be
applied.
A wealth of new brain research underscores the impact good
social skills, a strong emotional base and quality early childhood
education can have on children's later academic success. Teaching
children how to crack life's social code, the way we interact
with one another and how we see ourselves, may be the best
way to really help them be ready to learn. THE SOCIAL CODE
helps parents and caregivers better understand how to support
young children's social and emotional development birth to
five.
This series shows the teaching practices of K-2 teachers across
the country as they introduce their students to reading through
a variety of methodologies.
This program covers ten essential things all children need:
interaction, touch, stable relationships, safe and healthy environments,
self esteem, quality child care, communication, play, music,
and reading.
The programs in THE WHOLE CHILD feature real caregivers working
and playing together with children in ways that facilitate learning
and development.
