KLRU Awarded $25,000 Grant from AT&T Foundation

KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, has received a $25,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation to support the station's marketing and development infrastructure project.

This project is part of KLRU's strategic plan to provide improved customer service to members and transform the infrastructure to build a stronger and more diverse base of support for the station. This plan will help insure the station's continued success as Federal funding to Public Broadcasting decreases. The project consists of four components:

  1. Upgrading the donor database and enhancing the ability to manage it with technology-driven tools
  2. Hiring a Webmaster to provide strategic directions for using the new technologies
  3. Training staff in the new technologies as well as in best practices
  4. Conducting market research about the station's viewer and member base

The project will allow KLRU to increase membership, decrease the number of on-air pledge days annually, cultivate new major donors, and create a broader base of support in Central Texas.

The AT&T Foundation combines more than 40 years and $1.7 billion of philanthropic commitment to communities across the country. With its strong giving record, the Foundation is among the top five largest corporate foundations in the United States. The AT&T Foundation provides grants to organizations and programs that enrich quality of life, with an emphasis on improving education, advancing community development, addressing vital community needs and enhancing unique cultural assets.
