In Context, Downtown, State of Tomorrow win Lone Star Emmy Awards

Austin, TX -- KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, received six Lone Star Emmy Awards for the station’s locally-made shows and co-productions at a ceremony on October 18. The Lone Star Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognizes excellence in television programming. KLRU’s In Context was nominated in two categories and received the Emmy Award in both with producer Dutch Rall being honored for his photography work. Co-productions Downtown and State of Tomorrow also received awards.

In Context is KLRU’s arts program, exploring the world of creativity with profiles of both local and global artists. The show airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. Downtown, which features stories about the people and places of Austin’s downtown area, is a co-production of KLRU, the Downtown Austin Alliance and Action Figure. Downtown airs at 8 p.m. Thursdays. State of Tomorrow, a series about the research taking place at Texas universities, is co-produced by the UT Foundation and Alpheus Media in association with KLRU. This show is currently in hiatus.

LONE STAR CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences was founded in 1957. It is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the distinguished Emmy Award. The Lone Star Chapter, which is based in Dallas/Fort Worth, is dedicated to becoming the primary portal to connect professionals and students in Texas' television broadcast-related fields for networking and career development.
