GED CONNECTION

This multimedia instructional system includes a television/video series, workbooks and a Web site, developed by KET and the National Center of Adult Literacy. The system covers both the content and format of the new GED 2002 exam. The documentary-style series connects the learner with necessary skills by showing them used in real contexts at home, work, and the community. The Web site expands the students' opportunities to deepen their proficiency in the subject areas and the skills. In addition, by using the Internet, students develop valuable computer skills.

Interesting Things for ESL Students

This web site is for an excellent resource for people studying English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL). It contains many activities including quizzes, word games, word puzzles, proverbs, slang expressions, and anagrams. Even though the primary focus is for ESL, native English speakers may also find some interesting things on this site. This site is very easy to navigate and easy to read

PBS Literacy Link

LiteracyLink is a joint initiative developed in response to a growing demand for basic skills training. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the Star Schools Project, LiteracyLink is creating an integrated instructional system of video and online computer technology to help adult students advance their GED and workplace skills.

LiteracyLink also seeks to improve the quality of instruction provided to adult students by offering professional development resources and training to literacy educators.

Workplace Essential Skills

Use Workplace Essential Skills to help you find a new job, train for a better job, or be more successful on the job you already have. The lessons are written at a pre-GED level. They will help build up your critical thinking and problem solving skills. Developing these skills will also help you prepare for the GED tests.

Visual Thesaurus

Visual Thesaurus is both an artistic exploration and a tool to explore, study, and analyze the structure of language. By displaying the interrelationships between words and meanings as spatial maps, the Visual Thesaurus translates language into a visible architecture. In addition to the Online Edition, you can download a Desktop Edition to use when you are not connected to the Internet. To learn more about how to use the Visual Thesaurus, you can take the Guided Tour.
