Host Evan Smith

New York native Evan Smith joined the staff of Texas Monthly as a senior editor in January 1992. He came from The New Republic where he was deputy editor.

In July 2000, he was promoted to Editor and in May 2002 he also became Executive Vice President. In July 2008, Smith was named President and Editor-in-Chief. He received degrees from Hamilton College (Clinton, New York) and the Medill School at Northwestern University.

He has also written for GQ, Mother Jones, and other national magazines. Smith is the chair-elect of the KLRU Board and sits on the boards of the American Society of Magazine Editors, the Austin Film Society, and the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin.

He is also a member of the College of Communication Advisory Council of the University of Texas at Austin.
