Events & External Relations Intern

Under the supervision of the External Relations team, interns will be assisting the staff with the many KLRU events that occur year round.

The External Relations team oversees events for KLRU, which consist of:

  • Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, an annual fundraiser and concert
  • KLRU Next Nights, seasonal events for young professionals
  • KLRU Kids Writers Contest Celebration
  • Austin Kiddie Limits Booth at the ACL Festival
  • Booths at Educational Events
  • Donor and Fundraising Receptions and Events
  • Partner Events with other Austin organizations

The External Relations team also assists with events, including:

  • Overheard with Evan Smith tapings
  • Austin City Limits tapings
  • ACL Bloody Mary Morning during SXSW
  • Client Events in KLRU’s Studio 6A

The intern will provide management and coordination support to the External Relations team and, at times, to the Development Department.

Events & External Relations internship will provide experience in:

  • Creating cohesive event themes through decor, food, drink and activities
  • Assembling donor and gift packages
  • Researching vendors and event materials
  • Construction of decor elements through various forms of crafting
  • Working in an office environment, performing day-to-day tasks such as logging RSVP attendance, stuffing envelopes, creating name tags

In accordance with KLRU intern programs, the intern must:

  • Be in attendance of an accredited college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Attend and assist with after-hours events

Students interning for KLRU will have their internships terminated and will not receive college credit if they:

  • Do not maintain a consistent work schedule
  • Do not notify staff in advance of tardiness or absence
  • Are unable to perform required duties listed above

Internship is unpaid.
