Who We Are

Austin PBS is your community-supported, locally owned PBS station in Central Texas. With thousands of hours of on-air programming plus wide-ranging content available over multiple platforms in addition to hundreds of community events held each year, Austin PBS is one of the only nonprofits in Central Texas with the potential to touch nearly every household every day.

On Air

On Air. Annually, Austin PBS broadcasts 35,000 hours of curated content across four channels, devoted to education, arts and culture, and news and public affairs. Thoughtful, educational, and trusted national PBS programs such as PBS Newshour, Frontline, Masterpiece, Antiques Roadshow, and NOVA are available each day on Austin PBS. We also provide a safe space for kids to learn and grow through our Austin PBS KIDS 24/7 channel. Through our Austin PBS Create channel we showcase the best DIY and cooking shows to help people create masterpieces at home. And Austin PBS WORLD channel shares the best of public media in news, documentaries, and fact-based informational programming.

Online. With more than 8,000 hours of content available online, Austin PBS allows you to have access to your favorite shows anytime, anywhere. Through PBS.org and the PBS Video App, you can watch programs made in Austin plus signature PBS series all for free. Austin PBS Passport allows station supporters to access even more content online - binge entire series before they air or catch up on programs you may have missed. For families on the go, our Austin PBS KIDS 24/7 channel is available to watch on mobile devices through the free PBS KIDS Video App - now with the ability to download your child’s favorite episodes! And don’t miss out on the PBS KIDS Games App where your child can play free learning games with their favorite PBS characters.

In the Community

In the Community. Each year Austin PBS hosts more than 100 events and workshops, engaging with neighbors of all ages and interests. As Central Texas’ only community-supported, locally-owned public media station, Austin PBS has not only the ability but the responsibility to continually identify new and different ways to convene our community, going beyond TV to share knowledge, foster understanding and build connections among our neighbors. We invite the community to attend, reflect, discuss and be a part of the conversation so that together we can build a stronger, more engaged and understanding community.
